WHEN DID YOU REALIZE YOUR PARENTS VALUED THE SON MORE THAN THE DAUGHTER?

My birthday red envelope had 50 rmb (~7 usd). My younger brother got 3000 RMB (~430 usd). My mom doesn't know how to transfer money on Wechat so I helped her, thinking it was for my younger's brother's living expenses. My dad on the side had a slip of the tongue, so I found out the 3000 was for his birthday.

My brother's room has a water cooler dispense and several jugs for backup. I just use boil the tap water from the bathroom. 

My dad wanted me to stay in my hometown to work no matter what, I disagreed so we argued several times. He had a slip of the tongue again. It turns out the reason was so that in the future I could support my brother, since he had poor grades at school.

My mom said, if her first child was my younger brother, she wouldn't have given birth again.

Recently, they took out a loan for my brother to buy a house. My mom hinted several times for me to help pay the mortgage. Even if I had the money, I wouldn't help him.

When I always do the chores voluntarily, they think it's expected of an older sister. When my brother does the chores, they think it's because he's mature and and has filial piety.

Since I was young, they always said we are to be treated as equals, but the details always belie the truth.

When I was younger I used to be sad, but now that I'm grown and have the ability to support myself, I don't care anymore. I don't feel entitled for others to give me, I can only love myself.
